The U.S. State Department has officially declared the Western Hemisphere an exclusive zone of its country's interests on the social network X.
"President [Donald] Trump will not allow threats to our security," the statement says.
It was previously reported that U.S. lawmakers want to create a department within the State Department that will focus on countering "Russian influence." Congress members want to mandate the Secretary of State to establish a division that will "counter Russia's influence on sovereign countries and other actions by Russia" in countries that are allies or partners of Washington.
