A fire broke out in a bar at the Swiss alpine resort of Crans-Montana during New Year's celebrations on Thursday night, resulting in several dozen deaths and around 100 injuries, LETA reports citing AP.
It is believed that several dozen people have died," the police said in a statement.
Many of the injured are in serious condition.
The fire broke out around 1:30 AM local time (2:30 AM Latvian time) at the Le Constellation bar.
The police reported that an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
Crans-Montana is an internationally renowned ski resort that attracts many foreign tourists every year.
