The Chinese 'missile container ship' has been compared to Arleigh Burke destroyers.
A Chinese container ship, which has been converted into a missile platform, is comparable to Arleigh Burke-class destroyers of the United States Navy in terms of armament. The capabilities of the vessel were assessed in a publication by TWZ.
The publication noted photographs of the Chinese container ship, which has been equipped with a vertical launch system for various missiles. The author calculated that the ship has 60 missile cells. "This constitutes two-thirds of the capacity of the vertical launch systems on the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers of series I or II," the article states.
As the publication writes, Beijing is signaling that it can convert vessels from its gigantic commercial fleet into arsenal ships.
