Trump Promised to Build Up to 25 Powerful Combat Ships for the U.S. 0 8

The United States is developing a new class of combat ships called "Trump" and plans to build up to 25 new combat ships to supply its Navy. This statement was made by U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday.

As the politician noted, construction is set to begin with two vessels, followed by another eight. "Then, ultimately, and quite quickly, we will have a total of 20 to 25 (ships — ed.). We will determine that later," Trump emphasized at his Mar-a-Lago residence.

Earlier, Trump announced the construction of two combat ships of the new "Trump" class. They will carry hypersonic weapons. The construction of the first battleship, USS Defiant, is scheduled for the early 2030s — it is currently in the design stage. According to Trump, the battleships will become part of a new "golden fleet" of modern combat ships.

The new battleships, along with standard guns and missiles, will be equipped with hypersonic weapons, railguns (electromagnetic guns), and powerful laser armaments, Trump announced.

Alongside Trump at Mar-a-Lago during his speech were U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of the Navy John Phelan.

Pete Hegseth stated that the strengthening of the Navy is directly related to the key goals of the Department of War (formerly the Department of Defense): restoring the "warrior spirit," restructuring the armed forces, and rebuilding deterrent capabilities. According to John Phelan, the future "Trump" class battleship will be "the largest, deadliest, most versatile, and most beautiful warship in the world's oceans."

Earlier, President Donald Trump called American weapons the best in the world. In his speech, the U.S. leader simultaneously complained about the speed of their production. Additionally, he boasted about American submarines. According to Trump, they are at least 15 years ahead of competitors.
