According to Trump's special envoy, the dialogue in the US-Ukraine format in Miami focused on four aspects. The discussion included 'the timelines and sequence of further steps,' Witkoff emphasized, DW reports.

The special envoy of American President Donald Trump, Stephen Witkoff, revealed the aspects that were focused on during the US-Ukraine negotiations in Miami, Florida. Witkoff posted the relevant information on Sunday, December 21, on the social network X.

According to the special envoy, the meeting concentrated on four key issues: the further development of Trump's 20-point peace plan, the coordination of positions on a multilateral security guarantee system, the coordination of positions on the American security guarantee system for Ukraine, and the further development of the 'economic development and prosperity plan.'

The discussion included 'the timelines and sequence of further steps,' Witkoff emphasized.

"Our common priority is to stop the killings, ensure guaranteed security, and create conditions for the recovery, stability, and long-term prosperity of Ukraine. Peace must not only be a cessation of hostilities but also a worthy foundation for a stable future," the Trump representative stated.

According to Stephen Witkoff, the Ukrainian delegation also met with European partners in Miami.

Composition of Delegations

The Ukrainian delegation included the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Hnatov.

The American delegation was represented by Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, White House staffer Josh Grünbaum, and Witkoff himself.

Key European national security advisors also joined the discussion to coordinate a common strategic approach among Ukraine, the US, and Europe.

WSJ: Putin Lobbied for Witkoff as Contact on Ukraine

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin studied the psychological profiles of officials in Trump’s circle and insisted that Witkoff represent the US in the negotiations.

The Kremlin also set a condition for the meeting between Witkoff and the Russian leader. Witkoff was required to come to Moscow alone, without CIA staff, diplomats, or even a translator, the WSJ source noted.

The State Department allocated a small group of staff to support the US president's special envoy, but members of this team, like other administration staff, find it very difficult to receive reports on Witkoff's overseas meetings, the publication clarified.

Against this backdrop, Witkoff visited Russia for the sixth time in December, where he had a five-hour conversation with Putin that lasted until midnight, WSJ reported. However, the special envoy had never been to Ukraine.
