WP: Rubio increases U.S. military power against Venezuela.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is the driving force behind the increase in U.S. military power against Venezuela. This is reported by The Washington Post (WP) citing sources.
“Rubio is the driving force behind the increase in military power in policy towards Venezuela over the past few months,” a former U.S. official, who wished to remain anonymous, told the publication.
According to him, Rubio has not yet convinced U.S. President Donald Trump to use military force. However, other sources claim that it is Trump who “wants escalation” in relations with Venezuela.
Earlier, Rubio stated that the U.S. is not afraid of escalation in relations with Russia over Venezuela. He clarified that Russia is currently fully occupied with Ukraine.
