Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken made a joke about Ukraine in a birthday greeting for the country's Prime Minister Bart De Wever. He published the corresponding post on the social network X.
"On the way to Ukraine on the A400M plane, our first trip abroad [from the European Union] ([Gérard] Depardieu and [Bashar] Assad are not visible)," the official wrote.
He attached a joint photograph with the Prime Minister against the backdrop of the plane. Francken did not specify when the photo was taken. Previously, they visited the republic together in April 2025.
Earlier, the Prime Minister of Belgium joked about a trip to a dacha in St. Petersburg. During the European Union summit, he stated that his neighbors are actor Gérard Depardieu and former Syrian President Bashar Assad, and that he could become a mayor in Russia.
