The Ministry of Defense has no information about the mass presence of Russian troops in Belarus

The Latvian Ministry of Defense has no data confirming the assumptions about the mass presence of Russian military in Belarus.

The press service of the agency LETA reported that there is no intelligence information available to the ministry indicating that hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers are on the territory of Belarus. After the 'West 2025' exercises, the Russian units that participated left the country, and no mass troop movements in Belarus have been recorded since then, the Ministry of Defense emphasized.

An expert on defense and foreign policy from the ruling Christian Democratic Union, Roderich Kiesewetter, stated to German media that Russia allegedly deployed two army corps in Belarus, or about 350,000 to 360,000 soldiers.

These assumptions have caused a wide resonance on social media. The Lithuanian Armed Forces have already denied claims of such a scale of Russian troop presence in Belarus.
