Negotiations between the US and Ukrainian delegations on ending the war in Ukraine, taking place in Miami, Florida, will continue on Saturday for the third consecutive day, LETA reports citing AFP.
These negotiations involve US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, who are meeting with the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Andriy Hnatov.
The talks come after Witkoff and Kushner met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin on Tuesday to discuss the American plan for ending the war, although Moscow rejected certain points of this plan.
"Both sides agreed that real progress towards any agreement depends on Russia's willingness to demonstrate a serious commitment to long-term peace, including steps towards de-escalation and cessation of killings," the summary of the negotiations in Miami, published by Witkoff on Friday on platform X, states.
US and Ukrainian representatives "also agreed on the framework for security measures and discussed necessary deterrent mechanisms to maintain lasting peace."
