A helicopter crashed in Poland: two people died

The Polish prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the fatal tragedy that occurred in the village of Czerpisz near Rzeszów, where a four-seat Robinson R44 helicopter crashed, reports RMF24.

The incident occurred on November 30. Two brothers died in the crash – 41-year-old Mariusz S. and 44-year-old Krzysztof S. According to Deputy District Prosecutor in Rzeszów Katarzyna Drupka, one of the main versions of the investigation is extremely difficult weather conditions.

At the time of the crash, thick fog limited visibility to a few meters. Among the possible causes, the influence of moisture on the engine or the pilot losing orientation are being considered.

The investigation established that the helicopter was flying from Krosno and heading towards Przeworsk. Near Malawa, it suddenly changed course to the north, began to lose altitude, and struck the treetops, after which it fell in a wooded area around 15:35.

Emergency services received a report at 15:50 and arrived at the scene at 16:07. Due to the difficult terrain – a slope and marshy ground – rescuers reached the crash site on ATVs. They discovered burning wreckage and the bodies of both victims.

According to Drupka, documents were found at the scene indicating that the helicopter had undergone a technical inspection by a specialized company the day before the incident.
