Will NATO shoot if Russian troops cross the border of Latvia? - Kasparov

"Putin is applauding what is happening," said Russian opposition representative Garry Kasparov, sharply criticizing NATO's position on Ukraine. He reminded that Ukraine has been defending Europe from Russian aggression for four years, but instead of strong support from Trump, it received a "cynical deal," reports nra.lv, citing tv3.lt.

According to Kasparov, NATO has been pondering any actions by Russia for too long, thereby effectively helping Vladimir Putin carry out his plans. He stated this during the annual International Security Forum in Halifax, Canada, as reported by the Telegram channel "Ukraina 365".

Kasparov noted that the European Union and NATO have significant military potential, but it is unclear whether the Western armed forces are truly ready to fight the Russian army if a new war breaks out.

"What is happening now is a spectacle that Putin could not even dream of. Not a single direct answer. The question is not how much weaponry NATO has. The question is whether you are ready to fight and die. It is astonishing – you have a Canadian brigade in Latvia. What is its order – will they shoot if the Russians cross the border? We know the answer – the discussion will take an eternity. I still have not received an answer..." the politician expressed his outrage.

Kasparov emphasized that Ukraine has been defending Europe from Russian aggression for four years, but it is being asked to take on the responsibility of signing a new "peace" plan from the United States, which would actually harm it and take away fortifications in Donbas that "protect Europe".

"I cannot understand how one can seriously discuss a 'peace' plan to end Russia's war against Ukraine, which was drafted by Trump's business partner... This is a cynical deal aimed at enriching the Trump family at Ukraine's expense. How can one talk about Ukraine giving up the defensive lines that save Europe?

Today NATO is a fiction! This alliance does not exist right now. Ukraine spills blood every day, while NATO only consults. If it weren't for Ukraine, Russian tanks would already be standing in Poland... Kyiv has been fighting for Europe for four years. NATO was supposed to protect Europe from Russian aggression. But now only Ukraine is doing this. We owe Kyiv everything we have," stated Garry Kasparov.

He warned that Vladimir Putin will be able to realize all his aggressive plans if Kyiv is forced to sign the new "peace" plan of Donald Trump's administration: "Putin is pleased with what is happening. He is already conducting military operations with the help of mercenaries from North Korea, Cuba, and Africa. Only thanks to Ukraine has Putin not yet fulfilled his dream of restoring the Russian Empire. But if Kyiv is forced to accept Trump's new 'peace' plan, there is no doubt that Putin will get what he wants. The next will be European countries, but they are not ready to fight."
