"The conditions - I won’t say for a revolutionary, but - for a pre-revolutionary situation HAVE DEVELOPED IN UKRAINE ITSELF, - wrote journalist Arkady Babchenko on his Facebook account, -

Point by point.

1. A lost war. Well, I suppose no one will argue about the coffee in Yalta in two or three weeks at most, right? Moreover, the question is not even how lost it is or isn’t in reality.

The question is how much the final result will correspond to the initial promises of the authorities.

Does anyone still want children from Arestovich?

2. The weak government of Kerensky has been crossed out - not even a weak government. This is not even a political crisis. This is not even a loss of control, which I have been babbling about since 2019 - how much, again, crap was poured on me then.

This is the ABSENCE OF STATEHOOD.

Statehood has again failed to be built.

Let’s state this fact.

Because - well, again, by the fingers.

Here you have the first person.

Here you have the second person - no matter what you say, however you point to the position of the chief of pencils, Ermak is the second person in the state.

If not the first and a half.

And here he has some guy who is taking out suitcases of dollars.

This, no matter how you look at it, is either the third person in the pyramid.

Or the second and a half.

And if you have a second and a half person taking out hundreds of millions of dollars - and a hundred million is simply proven at the moment, confirmed by evidence, and there is certainly more - American money in suitcases to Moscow - this means a simple thing:

There is no state in Ukraine.

Sorry, this is a fact.

There are some groups that have come to power, some schemes, some quarters - but this is definitely not a state.

Next.

3. Hundreds of thousands of people returning from the front who feel deceived, betrayed, sold out.

Remark 1: Those who were captured in 2022, when there was a national upsurge, queues at military enlistment offices, and full faith in the future - and return home in 2025 - can you imagine how shocked they are now?

What the FSB officers told them in the absence of information in the cell, and what they refused to believe - damn, turned out to be true...

Remark 2: If you think that the junta will be Zaluzhny, then no way, the junta will be Biletsky and his right-hand man Malyuta.

But that’s a topic for another conversation.

4. A gigantic debt, which it is unclear how the hell to pay off at all in principle.

5. An almost destroyed economy and global impoverishment of the population. Which is sustained only by Vova’s thousand crossed out on the tranches from Europe.

And here, see point one and two.

6. And. The most important. The unresolved EXTREME contradictions in society.

This is the main point.

Do I need to explain this?

7. And as a cherry on the cake - the lack of consensus in society about the vision of the country’s future.

I’m not saying it will be like this. This is not a forecast.

This is not yet a disaster. But this is already an entry into a pre-disaster. And - yes. I don’t know what to do."

Arkady Arkadyevich Babchenko (born March 18, 1977, Moscow) is a Russian opposition journalist, writer, and war correspondent. He participated in the Russian Armed Forces in two Chechen wars: in the first as a conscript soldier, in the second under contract (he retired with the rank of sergeant). In 2017, he emigrated from Russia. He was in Ukraine from 2017 to 2019, and in 2018 he participated in a special operation to stage his own murder. On April 7, 2023, the Russian Ministry of Justice included Babchenko in the list of individuals - "foreign agents". He resides in Estonia. On July 30, 2023, Babchenko threw eggs at the Russian Embassy in Estonia, for which he received a fine.
