U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that his plan to end the war in Ukraine is not a final proposal and that he hopes for a cessation of hostilities "one way or another," LETA reports citing AFP.

In response to a question from reporters about whether his 28-point plan, which suggests that Ukraine cede part of its territory, reduce its army, and commit to never joining NATO, is his "final proposal to Ukraine," Trump replied: "No."

"We are trying to get this stopped. One way or another, we have to get this to end," he said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to this plan cautiously, stating that he would propose "alternatives."

Russian leader Vladimir Putin stated that he is ready to discuss the details of the plan; however, if Kyiv rejects it, Moscow will continue its offensive on Ukraine that began in February 2022.

On Friday, Trump said that November 27, when Thanksgiving is celebrated in the U.S., is a "suitable time" for reaching an agreement, but noted that the deadline could be flexible.

"He (Zelensky) will have to agree to this, and if he doesn’t like it, then, you know, they will just have to keep fighting," Trump told reporters. "At some point, he will have to accept something."

According to a U.S. representative, on Sunday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff will arrive in Geneva to discuss this plan. Representatives from Europe and Ukraine are also expected to arrive in Switzerland.
