Lithuania-Belarus - trucks still not crossing the border

Despite the opening of checkpoints on the border with Belarus, trucks from Lithuanian carriers have not been entering Lithuania for the second day, reported a representative of the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service.

According to Gedrius Mishutis, as of Friday morning, not a single truck with Lithuanian license plates has entered the country yet.

"Nothing has changed, and it is unclear why they are not passing through there," Mishutis told the BNS agency.

"The checkpoint is operational, and there is capacity. Passenger cars are passing through, and trucks with license plates from other countries are getting through, mainly, of course, from Russia, where drivers have simplified documents. The checkpoints themselves are functioning normally, and, of course, the checkpoint could allow other vehicles to pass, especially more trucks, but those with Lithuanian plates are not coming through," he said.

According to Mishutis, after the border opened, several Lithuanian trucks did head towards Belarus.
