Aliyev stated that the construction of the 'Trump Route' in Azerbaijan is nearly complete.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that the construction of the Zangezur corridor, also known as the 'Route (of US President Donald) Trump for international peace and prosperity' in the republic, is nearly complete.
Speaking at the VII Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia in Tashkent, Aliyev mentioned that over the past three years, cargo transportation through the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route) has increased by 90 percent.
According to the President of Azerbaijan, an important artery of the Middle Corridor at the initial stage was the railway with a capacity of 15 million tons. He emphasized that joint efforts to modernize transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as the synchronization and digitalization of customs procedures, will contribute to further increases in cargo volumes and allow for expanded interaction in international markets.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Yerevan is discussing with the USA the lease of the transport route under the 'Trump Route for international peace and prosperity' project for either 49 or 99 years. At the same time, Pashinyan emphasized that the project has no political implications and is aimed solely at economic benefit.
