UK Defence Secretary Healey: London is tracking and hunting Russian submarines.
UK Defence Secretary John Healey stated that the number of Russian vessels threatening the waters of the United Kingdom has increased by 30 percent. His words were reported by the BBC.
Healey emphasized that this indicates a rise in Moscow's "aggression," which is spreading to Europe as well. According to the head of the UK Ministry of Defence, the activity of Russian submarines in the North Atlantic is comparable to the levels during the Cold War.
In this regard, the RAF and the British Navy have intensified surveillance in the region. Healey stated that London has deployed a P-8 RAF patrol aircraft to monitor activity at sea, including the movement of Russian ships. "Russia is challenging us, it is testing us, it is watching us. But these aircraft allow us to tell [Russian President Vladimir] Putin: 'We are watching you, we are hunting your submarines,'" Healey admitted.
