Since the beginning of the year, the number of deportations in Germany has significantly increased, according to data published on Saturday by the government, writes LETA citing DPA.
From January to September, 17,651 people were deported — about one-fifth more compared to the same period last year, when 14,706 people were expelled.
This data is included in the federal government's response to a request from the Left Party in the lower house of parliament.
The highest number of people were deported to Turkey — 1,614 people, and to Georgia — 1,379. Almost one in five deportees — 3,095 people — were children or young people.
