The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry made a statement about the meeting of the leaders of Russia and the U.S. in Budapest.
Hungary will do everything possible for the success of the meeting between U.S. leaders Donald Trump and Russia's Vladimir Putin in Budapest. This statement was made by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, on a Sunday program on Kossuth radio.
"Hungary is ready to act as a mediator or undertake any important activities for the establishment of peace," Szijjarto noted.
He also emphasized that among all European Union (EU) countries, only Hungary and Slovakia advocate for a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian conflict. The Foreign Minister called Hungary "an island of peace in Europe."
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban made a statement regarding the meeting between Putin and Trump. He emphasized that the meeting in Budapest between the presidents of Russia and the U.S., Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, would provide opportunities for peace in Ukraine.
