In Italy, near Rome, a bomb explosion last night destroyed the car of notable journalist Sigfrido Ranucci, reported on Friday by the television investigative project he leads, LETA writes, citing AFP.
No one was killed or injured.
During the explosion in the town of Pomezia, Ranucci's car was completely destroyed, and the second family car and a nearby house were also damaged, reported the program Report, which airs on the public television channel RAI.
"The force of the explosion was so great that it could have killed anyone passing by at that moment," the statement on platform X said.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni condemned the incident, calling it "a serious act of intimidation."
"The freedom and independence of information are undeniable values of our democracy that we will continue to defend," the Prime Minister stated on platform X.
Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi reported that he ordered to significantly increase security measures for the journalist.
According to the minister, the attack is "a cowardly and extremely serious step, an attack not only on a person but also on press freedom and the fundamental values of our democracy."
