U.S. President Donald Trump, the oldest president in the country's history, has been declared to have "excellent overall health" following a medical examination, his physician reported on Friday, according to LETA citing AFP.
79-year-old Trump underwent a medical examination at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington on Friday. This was the second examination since the beginning of his second presidential term in January.
Upon returning to the White House, Trump, giving a thumbs up, responded to reporters' questions about the check-up.
"President Trump continues to demonstrate excellent overall health," wrote his physician, Navy Captain Sean Conley, in a letter published by the White House.
"The age of his heart, according to the assessment, is approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age. He continues to maintain a rigorous daily schedule without limitations," the doctor noted.
Trump underwent various routine tests and received vaccinations — an updated COVID-19 booster shot and the annual flu vaccine.
In July, the White House reported that Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency after speculation arose about abrasions on his arm and swelling in his legs.
This week, the White House announced that an "annual" medical examination would take place on Friday, despite a similar examination having already been conducted for Trump in April.
On Thursday, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he planned to undergo a semi-annual physical check-up.
"I am in great shape, but I will let you know the results. I have no problems at this time. Physically, I feel very good. Mentally, I feel very good," Trump said.
In a statement from his physician after the April examination, it was stated that "President Trump is in excellent cognitive and physical health and is fit for duty as Commander in Chief and Head of State."
It was also noted that Trump’s heart and lungs are functioning well, and his neurological and overall physical indicators are normal. He scored 30 out of 30 possible points on a cognitive test.
