Ending the war in Ukraine may prove to be more difficult than achieving a ceasefire in the Middle East, U.S. President Donald Trump stated during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, LETA reports citing BBC.
According to him, a peace agreement in the Middle East is close to being concluded, which cannot be said about the war in Ukraine.
"I thought this would be one of the easiest cases. I have a good relationship with Putin, and I thought this issue could be resolved," Trump said.
"I am very disappointed in him because I thought everything would be settled easily, but it turns out this may be even more difficult than the Middle East," the U.S. president admitted.
Trump returned to the White House with a promise to end the war in Ukraine within the first 24 hours of his presidency.
Later, he acknowledged multiple times that reaching a peace agreement would not be easy.
