Nobel Laureate Ramsdell Couldn’t Be Informed About His Award — He Is Off the Grid.

The Nobel Committee was unable to contact awardee Fred Ramsdell and inform him of his victory. This was reported by AFP agency.

A representative of Ramsdell's laboratory, Sonoma Biotherapeutics, and his friend Jeffrey Bluestone told reporters that the Nobel Committee cannot inform the scientist about his award. According to the agency's source, Fred Ramsdell is "living his best life" and is currently on a hike far from civilization.

On October 6, it was announced that the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to Mary E. Branco, Fred Ramsdell, and Simon Sakaguchi. They received the award for discovering a fundamental mechanism that prevents the immune system from self-destruction. Bluestone noted that it is currently impossible to speak with Ramsdell by phone. "I tried to reach him myself. I think he is somewhere in the wilderness of Idaho and off the grid," the scientist's friend remarked.

Representatives of the Nobel Committee admitted that they also could not immediately speak with another laureate — Mary E. Branco. She, like Ramsdell, lives on the West Coast of the United States, which is in a different time zone and is nine hours behind Stockholm. However, in the end, they were able to congratulate Branco on receiving the award.
