Verdict: Italians, Swedes, and Spaniards will live the longest in Europe.. And what about us?

Among Europeans, Italians, Swedes, and Spaniards can expect the highest life expectancy, according to a published report by Eurostat.

In Italy and Sweden, this figure was 84.1 years, while in Spain it was 83.4 years.

The lowest life expectancy in the European Union is among Bulgarians (75.9 years), Romanians (76.6 years), and residents of Latvia (76.7 years).

On average, in Europe, this figure stands at 81.7 years. This is four months more than the previous year.

Compared to the pre-pandemic level of 2019, life expectancy increased in 24 out of 26 countries where statistics were collected. The largest increase was observed in Lithuania (by 1.1 years), followed by the Czech Republic, Latvia, and Romania (by 1 year in each country). In France, life expectancy increased by 0.1 years.

The only country where a decline was recorded was the Netherlands.

According to a study conducted in 2017, life expectancy in developed countries will continue to rise. With a probability of 50%, girls born in France or Spain will live to be 90 years old.
