Mikhail Kovaltchuk, president of the National Research Center "Kurchatov Institute" and known for his closeness to Vladimir Putin, presented a large-scale conspiracy theory at the V Forum of Class Teachers, as reported by The Moscow Times.
At its core is the thesis of a total "washing out of professions" in the era of the technological revolution, where robots are gradually making human labor redundant. In this regard, Kovaltchuk claims that Western countries have allegedly developed a plan for the phased destruction of up to 90% of the Earth's population. According to him, the tools of this plan include both social technologies—such as the "promotion of LGBT" and the child-free ideology—as well as direct biological weapons.
"The West, which has developed ahead, understands that a huge number of people are becoming unnecessary. They have started preparing for the reduction of their population. They introduced LGBT—so there would be no continuation of the species. And those who did not accept LGBT were offered a second program—Child free family. In a generation or two, they will have no continuation of the species. And with the others, they will deal with biological weapons: a conditional virus with a 90% mortality rate will come and wipe out the population," Kovaltchuk stated (a recording of his speech is published by "Agency").
The head of the "Kurchatov Institute" emphasized that Western elites will leave "only a small part of people that they need," while all the others "they do not consider as people." In conclusion, he urged the audience to remember that "we have no friends, except for the army and the navy."
The forum where these theses were voiced was first held in 2025 by a foundation associated with Metropolitan Tikhon Shevkunov, who is referred to as "Putin's spiritual advisor." The program included a talk show with propagandist Vladimir Solovyov and a flash mob with Oleg Gazmanov. There were over a thousand participants in the hall, and 325,000 people watched the broadcast on "VKontakte."
Kovaltchuk has made similar statements before. In September 2024, he spoke about the same "plans of the West," claiming that Western countries are allegedly "carefully reducing their own population with the help of LGBT and child free," while the rest will be "destroyed biologically." According to him, this is "a much more serious danger because it is hidden," and only "the enlightenment of one's own population" can counter it.
