Potato casserole is a simple yet hearty dish that is easy to prepare at home. Tender potatoes, aromatic spices, and creamy milk sauce create a juicy texture and rich flavor.
Ingredients
- potatoes — 1.5 kg
- milk — 500 ml
- flour — 2 tbsp
- hard cheese — 150 g
- Italian herbs — 1 tsp
- nutmeg — 1 tsp
- salt and pepper — to taste
Cooking Method
Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly. Soak in cold water, then rinse thoroughly and dry with a towel.
For the sauce, combine milk, nutmeg, salt, and Italian herbs in a saucepan. Mix, add flour, and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
Place the potatoes in a baking dish lined with parchment paper and evenly pour the prepared sauce over them.
Cover the dish with foil and bake at 180 degrees for about 50 minutes. Then remove the foil, sprinkle the casserole with grated cheese, and return to the oven for another 10 minutes to form a golden crust.
Serve the finished dish hot — it is perfect for both a family dinner and a festive table.
