The new vehicle also demonstrated high energy efficiency.
During an independent test, the new electric sedan Mercedes-Benz CLA was able to travel significantly further than the officially stated range, reports Electrek.
The Edmunds Range Test featured the all-wheel-drive version of the Mercedes-Benz CLA 350 4MATIC. Despite the official EPA rating of 502 km, the vehicle covered 620 km, which is 117 km more than the stated figures.
This result allowed the newcomer to surpass several competitors, including the Tesla Model Y Standard, which traveled 546 km in a similar test, and the BMW i4 eDrive40 with a result of 470 km. Only the Audi A6 Sportback Prestige AWD showed a slightly better result — 631 km.
During the test, Mercedes also demonstrated high energy efficiency. The actual consumption was 25.7 kWh per 100 miles, which is approximately 13% better than the official EPA figures.
The charging results were equally impressive. The manufacturer claims a maximum charging power of 320 kW; however, during tests, the vehicle reached a figure of 349 kW. In just over nine minutes, the battery replenished enough energy for an additional 161 km of range.
The Edmunds test was conducted under conditions closely resembling everyday use: 60% of the route was in the city, 40% on the highway, with an average speed of about 64 km/h and the climate control system turned on.
