The Most Useless PC Upgrades Named

XDA listed useless PC upgrades — powerful cooling and other enhancements.

Journalists from the XDA portal listed upgrades that do not significantly affect computer performance. The material was published on the site of the media.

According to the authors, some advertised upgrades for personal computers (PCs) do not actually have a noticeable impact on the device's speed. The specialists listed types of such improvements.

First of all, they referred to all-in-one CPU cooling. According to the authors, such systems are relevant only for ultra-powerful chips: "Six-core and eight-core processors with a TDP of up to 125 watts still dominate most consumer systems, so you don’t need an expensive liquid cooling system," the specialists stated.

The authors also believe that most users do not need ultra-fast NVMe SSDs, just as they do not need high-speed RAM. They explained that faster RAM typically comes with higher CAS latency, which further complicates the apparent performance benefits.

In addition, users were discouraged from purchasing very expensive motherboards and extremely costly processors. "Modern games require graphics cards to perform resource-intensive tasks, and multi-core processors are still underutilized in most games," the authors noted.
