The Earth's magnetosphere has calmed in anticipation of a powerful magnetic storm, specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory reported.
According to the forecast, the upcoming magnetic storm could reach a very strong level (G4) by noon on Tuesday, January 20. However, specialists noted that it is difficult to predict such a strong storm, so the forecast may not be accurate.
Currently, it is expected that magnetic storms may begin as early as midnight on Tuesday, peak at a level of strong and even very strong magnetic storm G3-G4 around noon, after which they will gradually weaken. The magnetic storms are expected to last about a day, and the geomagnetic field will finally calm down in the afternoon of Wednesday, January 21.
