As part of the Riga Technical University project "KiberACS – Cybersecurity Academy," a new stage of training begins, during which participants will be able to master the basics of information security and incident management in the field of cybersecurity. As cybersecurity expert and advisor to the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Ieva Ilvessa mentioned in the program "900 seconds" (TV3), registration for the free courses is open until Friday.

This time, two courses of different difficulty levels are offered. One of them is suitable for participants without prior knowledge and is dedicated to cybersecurity management – identifying risks, organizing processes, and selecting appropriate technological solutions. The second course focuses on cybersecurity incidents and requires minimal technical preparation; however, one can start learning almost "from scratch."

Ilvessa emphasizes that cybersecurity today is no longer just a narrowly technical field. It also encompasses organizational and human aspects – similar to medicine, where everything is important: from daily hygiene to complex surgeries. Course participants acquire skills that allow them to both teach others digital hygiene and help businesses organize digital processes and identify risks.

An important distinction of the project is practice – part of the training takes place in a real work environment over two months, and the best participants are awarded scholarships. The goal of the project is for the acquired knowledge not to remain theoretical but to be immediately applied in practice.

Last year, 167 participants completed the courses, and as Ilvessa notes, many of them continue to develop in the field of cybersecurity. A network of alumni has also been created, which fosters further collaboration and professional growth. Feedback shows that both participants and businesses that hosted them for internships gained valuable experience – often significant improvements in security can be implemented with fairly simple solutions.
