WSJ: Apple’s AI will be asked 2000 prohibited questions to allow operation in China.
The neural network of the American global corporation Apple will be tested using prohibited questions to allow its operation in China. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
Apple announced artificial intelligence (AI) features in its devices back in 2024, but the company has been unable to launch the neural network in many regions, including China. Sources from the publication revealed that to permit the operation of Apple’s AI, Chinese authorities will test it with 2000 questions.
The authors explained that this is how each AI model is tested in the region. The neural networks will be asked 2000 questions related to topics that are prohibited in China. If the chatbot refuses to answer at least 95 percent of them, it will receive approval from the authorities. The article states that every AI model operating in China must comply with censorship.
Such tests will be conducted at least once a month. According to WSJ journalists, Chinese authorities want to "sit on two chairs": to make their AI models the most powerful in the world, but force them to ignore answers to questions that do not please the official Beijing.
In early December, the Financial Times reported that smartphone manufacturers in China have begun to actively promote AI features. According to journalists, this is how they want to present themselves in a favorable light against the backdrop of Apple.
