Benfica's head coach Jose Mourinho received a two-match suspension for shouting at the opponent during the match against Porto (2:2).
The punishment is also related to the red card and the conflict with Porto's assistant coach Lucho Gonzalez in the match that took place last Sunday, March 8. This was reported by ESPN.
Mourinho received a one-match suspension for the red card received at the end of Sunday’s match. The coach left his technical area and kicked the ball towards the Porto bench in celebration of a goal scored. Mourinho noted that he was trying to kick the ball into the stands. Additionally, he received an 11-day suspension for the altercation with Lucho Gonzalez.
Benfica announced its intention to appeal the decisions made on Thursday, March 12. The club described Mourinho's punishment as unfair and unjustified.
