Hockey Canada has appointed Pittsburgh forward Sidney Crosby as captain of the national team participating in the 2026 Winter Olympics. The two-time Olympic champion will lead the team in Italy.
The alternate captains will be Colorado defenseman Cale Makar and Edmonton forward Connor McDavid.
The upcoming tournament will be the first for NHL players at the Games since 2014 in Sochi.
The hockey competitions of the 2026 Olympics will take place from February 11 to 22. Team Canada will begin its quest for medals on February 12 with a match against the Czech Republic.
