Swedish skier Ebba Andersson lost her silver Olympic medal due to damage to the award after the ceremony.
“It was stupid. I was catching up to the winner Frida Karlsson, and in that rush, the medal broke into pieces and fell into the snow. I thought, ‘Damn, this is awful.’
I hope the organizers have a plan B in case of damaged medals.
I tried to glue it back together, but one of the three pieces flew off in the other direction and is somewhere on the street. In the end, we gave up,” Andersson said in an interview with SVT.
On Saturday, February 7, Andersson finished second in the skiathlon. Previously, the Swede won a bronze medal in the relay at the 2022 Games and a silver in the same event in 2018.
