Ovechkin's Representative: Sasha Understands He Could Score His 1000th Goal in the NHL

Gleb Chistyakov, representing the interests of forward and captain of the Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin, commented on the fact that the hockey player could score 1000 goals including playoffs in the National Hockey League (NHL).

“Of course, there isn’t as much hype around this achievement as there will be in the spring of 2025. This is because the NHL traditionally does not mix the regular season and the playoffs. There’s a bit less excitement here. But Sasha himself understands that he can reach such a height, and it will be very pleasant for him. He keeps this in mind,” said Chistyakov.

Alexander Ovechkin broke Wayne Gretzky's 'eternal' record for the most goals scored in regular-season National Hockey League games on April 6, 2025. He also approached the record when considering the playoffs. The Russian hockey player has scored 918 goals and 995 including playoffs. He needs just five more goals to reach his 1000th goal.

The next game for the Washington Capitals will take place on January 28. The club will play against the Seattle Kraken. Washington has accumulated 57 points and is in 12th place in the NHL Eastern Conference standings.
