Former FIFA President Blatter Supported the Idea of Boycotting the 2026 World Cup in the USA

Former President of the International Federation of Football (FIFA) Joseph Blatter advocated for the idea of boycotting the World Cup in the USA.

"I give fans only one piece of advice: stay away from the USA! I think Mark Peat is right to question this World Cup," Blatter wrote on his social media. Earlier, lawyer Mark Peat, who headed FIFA's independent governance committee, advised fans not to travel to the United States for the World Cup. In early 2026, the USA launched a campaign on Venezuelan territory, during which it dealt a significant blow to the South American country and captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. The 2026 World Cup will take place in the USA, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
