Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals scored a double in the NHL regular season game against the Anaheim Ducks (7:4).
In the second period, the 40-year-old forward scored at even strength, and in the third period, he scored into an empty net in the final minute.
Ovechkin's first goal of the match was historic. The hockey player broke his own record for game-winning goals in NHL regular seasons (140) and tied the league record for the number of game-winning goals including playoffs, matching Czech player Jaromir Jagr with 151 game-winning goals in both the regular season and playoffs combined.
In total, during the 2025/26 season, Ovechkin has recorded 36 points (17+19) in 43 games.
