Latvia's top player Alena Ostapenko finished the tennis season in 23rd place in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) singles rankings, maintaining her position compared to the previous week.
Last week, Ostapenko competed in the doubles event of the WTA Finals, where she reached the semifinals.
Daria Semenistaya, who entered the top 100 rankings for the first time in October, dropped two positions and now occupies the 94th place.
Among other Latvian tennis players, Anastasija Sevastova climbed two spots (208th place), Kamilla Bartone dropped 16 (563rd), and Adelina Lachinova maintained her position (630th). Beatrice Zeltiņa rose 16 places and set a personal record (679th), Diana Marcinkevich gained 14 positions (795th), and Elza Tomase climbed 21 places (927th). There is a decline in the rankings for Sabina Rutlauka (down seven positions to 1250th) and Margarita Ignatyeva (down five to 1469th).
There were minor changes in the top 10 of the WTA singles rankings. The top four still consists of Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, Polish Iga Swiatek, and Americans Coco Gauff and Amanda Anisimova. Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina, who won the WTA Finals, moved up to fifth place, surpassing American Jessica Pegula. Another American, Madison Keys, follows her. The eighth place is occupied by Italian Jasmine Paolini, while the top ten is rounded out by Russians Mira Andreyeva and Ekaterina Alexandrova.
In the WTA doubles rankings, Ostapenko dropped one position to seventh place. Daria Semenistaya moved up two positions (153rd place). Sevastova dropped one position (504th), while Bartone fell 99 places (553rd). At the same time, Diana Marcinkevich rose 49 places (655th), and Elza Tomase climbed six (662nd). There are also ten more Latvian tennis players in the rankings, occupying positions below 900th.
The season in the doubles rankings concluded with Czech player Katerina Siniakova in first place.
