Riga leaders quarreled over the meat pavilion!
As we have already reported, the State Construction Control Bureau has prohibited the operation of the meat pavilion at the Riga Central Market. Starting tomorrow, this building will be closed. Traders are in despair - where to put their products and where to work now?
But the leaders of the city council are busy with something else - figuring out their relationships! Mayor Viesturs Kleinbergs (Progressives), upon learning of the scandal regarding the decision to close the market pavilion, instead of convening an emergency meeting and taking action, began commenting on the events in... social media.
Kleinbergs tried to shift the responsibility to his deputy - Edvards Ratnieks (National Alliance) and wrote on the social network X that he would instruct Ratnieks, who is responsible for municipal property, to explain to the public what actually happened.
The deputy mayor was, to put it mildly, surprised, as he had already discussed the situation with Kleinbergs, which Ratnieks noted in the same social network: “I am still at the council and conducting a meeting of the Riga council (!!!). When you were present at the meeting and did not leave, I informed you about the situation at the Riga Central Market and the possible decision of the State Construction Control Bureau, and I reported on the actions. I will continue to keep my finger on the pulse of this issue.”
Soon, of course, we will see how this “keeping a finger on the pulse” will help the traders and the market. So far, Ratnieks, as a manager, has not shown himself in any way and has only been remembered by the residents of Riga as a fighter against the M. Chekhov Theater.
Of course, it is easier and more pleasant to fight against the “wrong” sign on the theater than to restore order at the Central Market.
