The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs signed an order to send employees on a long-term assignment.

As is known, the first thing Janis Dombrova did upon taking office as the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was to prohibit employees of the internal affairs system from communicating in any language other than the state language. However, yesterday Dombrova issued a new directive - he is sending employees responsible for civil defense on a long-term assignment to the border areas of the country. This is what the newly appointed minister announced today on social media:

"Employees of the ministry responsible for civil defense will work in border municipalities.

Among my priorities and the priorities of my team will be civil defense. We will develop border capabilities, possibly even using modern detection and drone interception systems, thereby providing effective support to our national armed forces at the border.

The public should know that the warning of an aerial threat will work in time and people will have clarity on where to take shelter and how quickly to eliminate destruction. There is confidence that critical infrastructure will not be an easy target for the enemy to destroy.

Employees of the ministry responsible for civil defense will be sent on a longer assignment to border municipalities, not only to familiarize themselves with the situation but also to work on-site with responsible services and municipalities to practically solve issues in the context of civil security."
