The new Minister of the Interior has outlined priorities.
As is known, in the government of Kulbergs approved today by the Saeima, Janis Dombrova will be responsible for internal security. The Minister of the Interior stated in an interview with Latvian TV this evening that combating the influx of migrants is one of his priorities. Responding to a journalist's remark that educating foreign students in Latvia is an export of education that brings income, Dombrova noted: "Exporting education is a good thing; Latvian universities can open branches in India, Nigeria... But if they invite residents of these countries to study here, they are opening a window for migration."
Dombrova pointed out that in Nigeria alone, more children are born in a year than in the entire European Union! "It is clear that residents of third countries will strive to come to Europe. This is very dangerous! And the experience of several European countries confirms this," said Dombrova, who insists on introducing quotas for the entry of citizens from third countries.
