New Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs is set to host the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Sviridenko, on Monday, June 1, during her visit to Latvia.
In a statement to journalists after the symbolic ceremony, during which the outgoing Prime Minister Evika Silina handed over her duties to the new Prime Minister Kulbergs, adding to the photo gallery of prime ministers and driving a symbolic silver nail into the prime minister's flagpole, Kulbergs told reporters that work needs to begin immediately.
The visit of the Prime Minister of Ukraine, whom Kulbergs is set to host, is expected on Monday. He expressed hope that Silina would assist him so that the new head of the Latvian government would be prepared and able to discuss issues that had previously been in progress.
As reported, on Thursday, the Saeima approved the new government, which will be headed by Prime Minister Kulbergs.
