As many as 69 deputies may vote for the approval of the new government.
Such a majority in the Saeima, as that of the new government of Kulbergs, has not been seen for a long time! The ruling coalition of four political forces already has 66 votes in parliament. In addition, the government is expected to be supported by independent deputies Oleg Burov and Andrijs Celapiters, and independent deputy Igor Raev will also vote in favor of the government. It is anticipated that the discussion on the approval of the government may begin at tomorrow's plenary session - however, the documents to initiate this procedure have not yet been submitted to the Saeima...
Also, the Saeima will consider two tax initiatives from the opposition faction "Latvia First" at tomorrow's plenary session. The deputies propose to include expenses for the purchase of medications in the list of expenditures eligible for a refund of part of the income tax. Furthermore, the opposition parliamentarians are calling for a reduction in the capital gains tax rate - from 25.5% to 10%, which, according to the authors of the bill, will promote the influx of investors and will only increase revenue to the treasury from this type of tax. However, these proposals will likely be rejected by the majority of the Saeima. On the other hand, the parliament will conceptually support amendments that effectively eliminate the remnants of Russian broadcasting in public media.
Notably, the future Minister of the Interior Janis Dombrava will conclude his work in parliament with a presentation of the final report from the commission he led on migration investigations. Now, some of the ideas presented in this report, Dombrava will be able to attempt to implement as the Minister of the Interior.
