An unexpected turn after the State Audit Office's review.
As is known, recently the State Audit Office confirmed what experts and journalists have been saying for a long time. Namely: the company "Rīgas siltums" has not been using the thermal energy produced by "Latvenergo" for years, effectively releasing heat into the air. As a result, Riga residents are paying for more expensive heat due to inflated tariffs.
"Rīgas siltums" is controlled by the Riga City Council and the Ministry of Economics, and they are now, as reported by the TV-3 program Nekā personīga, blaming each other for the lack of proper oversight of the company.
At the same time, Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis, in an interview with Nekā personīga, even called on the Ministry of Regional Development to assess the possibility of dismissing the mayor of Riga, Klainbergs, or even dissolving the entire Riga City Council!
If the Riga City Council was dismissed 6 years ago due to waste management issues, at this moment — if I were the Minister of Smart Administration and Regional Development — I would definitely initiate the dismissal of either the mayor himself or the entire council, because this is absolutely unfulfilled work by the council!" - V. Valainis is convinced.
