Janis Ikstens talked about how many Latvians are actually ready to engage in politics.
Professor of the University of Latvia, political scientist Janis Ikstens, in an interview with TV-24, referring to a study, noted that most Latvians are dissatisfied with politicians and parties, and they also do not believe that they can influence anything or achieve any changes. However, they are not eager to enter politics themselves.
"Only 1.5% of citizens are members of political parties, which is about 25,000 people. About 4% are willing to join political parties, which is very low!" said the political scientist.
