On the agenda of the parliament is also the discussion of the readiness of hospital infrastructure for crisis situations.

The Saeima's Defense and Internal Affairs Commission hopes to complete work on numerous amendments to the new immigration bill next week. It is expected that in another week, the Saeima may adopt this law in its final reading. It should be noted that some deputies, primarily from the National Alliance, want to tighten the entry requirements for citizens of third countries, especially those seeking student visas or residence permits. Several amendments, on the other hand, propose to encourage the entry of citizens from third countries, but only wealthy individuals—temporary residence permits are proposed to be issued in exchange for investments in the economy (business creation) and in real estate.

The parliamentary investigative commission on migration will continue its work, as deputies seek expert opinions on whether Latvia still has a chance to avoid the EU's requirement to accept immigrants (refugees) by quotas or to pay in case of refusal to accept refugees.

The subcommittee on demography will discuss proposals to improve the demographic situation in 2027.

Also next week, at the initiative of the Saeima's Legal Commission, a conference with a clearly pre-election "tinge" will take place. Deputies and experts will discuss the "legal and socio-economic aspects of Russification and Soviet colonialism in Latvia."

In turn, the health subcommittee has planned an exchange of views with healthcare organizers on the readiness of hospital infrastructure for emergencies. This means discussing how prepared Latvian hospitals and other medical institutions will be for both mass patient admissions and power supply disruptions, as well as other emergencies.
