“Everyone understands that the war needs to be ended. Unlike us, they (the Russians - Ed.) are spending their own money. These are huge amounts — already counted in trillions. That’s why they are negotiating. I don’t think this will drag on for long,” said the head of the Office of the President in an interview with Bloomberg.

He states that currently both sides are putting forward 'maximalist' demands to end the war, but he is confident that a compromise will ultimately be found.

When asked about the possible withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas, he did not answer directly: “A final decision has not yet been made. But, in principle, everyone clearly understands the limits of what is acceptable now. This is huge progress.”

At the same time, Bloomberg sources in the Kremlin stated that there is little real progress, discussions have reached a deadlock, and the only concrete outcome has been that both sides have outlined positions that are unacceptable to the opponent.

As reported by bb.lv, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an Easter ceasefire. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for a ceasefire for Easter.
