Silina demands a list of Latvian companies trading with Russia. What other list is being requested online?

The Ministry of Finance of Latvia suddenly issued a statement this evening about the urgent publication of a list of companies continuing to trade with Russia and Belarus.

Officials believe that society should know which Latvian companies continue to cooperate with aggressor countries, so it is important to ensure greater transparency in assessing such economic ties.

It should be noted that such a list was already published in Latvia but was later retracted due to fears of legal risks.

This time, the Ministry of Finance promises to support the Ministry of Economics so that all necessary information and proposals for changes to regulations can be prepared. This will allow the Ministry of Economics to obtain the necessary information from the Central Statistical Bureau, which is under its jurisdiction, and publish it within its competence.

When this will happen is not specified. At the same time, according to the Ministry of Finance, clear and objective criteria must be established for determining the publication process to avoid the unjustified inclusion of companies in public lists and incorrect reflection of economic activities.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Silina suddenly called for the publication of a list of companies continuing to trade with Russia and Belarus.

"If there are obstacles to publishing information, I expect concrete solutions, not excuses," the Prime Minister shared her expectations on Facebook.

Within a couple of hours after the publication on Facebook, more than two hundred comments accumulated. Here are some of them:

Vi Pa: – People do not want to live in a poor country where, when you receive a salary, you do not know how to pay for medicine and rent. And what is sold to the population is irrelevant. You went to the Olympics for 2.8 million, you do not understand this!

Ingus Rapīts: – People want to know where the state budget is being spent (read – embezzled). People want to know how much and where is being stolen! People should know their "heroes"! Evika Silina, can such a list be published? Or do you have to hide under all sorts of mystical "state secrets"?

Gunita Zernevica: – Evika Silina photographed fuel prices today?!? Today in Ventspils, Lukoil gas station is 2.157€/liter!!!!

Harijs Kļaviņš: – Nothing worsens the lives of citizens as much as the government's efforts to improve it!

Aleksandrs Sniedzāns: – Kudos to those who work with Russia and Belarus, I am waiting for the list to start cooperation.

Aigars Volkovs: – I hope you see the distrust towards you from the people.

In the same spirit, dozens of other comments have been published.
