The verdict of the Constitutional Court regarding broadcasting in the languages of national minorities on the social network X was commented on by the Chairman of the National Council for Electronic Media, Ivars Abolins: "The consequences of the occupation in public media are being eliminated more than 30 years after the restoration of independence - a historic day for Latvia.

The Constitutional Court recognizes that the obligation imposed on public media to create content in the languages of national minorities, including Russian, is not in accordance with the Constitution.

A great victory, but the struggle continues - the ball is now in the parliamentary court and it will have to change the law.

The Russian language is self-sufficient and Latvia must protect its security."
