The parliamentarian thanked the court for its professional work.
As previously reported, today the Constitutional Court effectively acknowledged the validity of the lawsuit filed by members of the Saeima from the National Alliance and the United List. Based on the court's verdict, a new language regulation for public media will likely be adopted, and the Russian language will ultimately disappear from these public media. One of the plaintiffs, Saeima deputy Arturs Bulans, expressed joy about this on the social network X today: "Reason and justice prevail! The Constitutional Court recognizes that funding for the Russian language and the division of the information space are not in accordance with the Constitution.
The era of bilingualism will end, but the law still needs to be changed. The deadline is set for May 1, 2027! Thank you to my colleagues from the National Alliance and the United List and the court for their professional work!"
