Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina ('New Unity') stated that she is not afraid of difficulties and intends to continue working even in the face of tough political struggles. She made this statement in an interview with the program 'Week. Post scriptum' on TV24.
"I am not afraid of difficulties, I love my country and will work as much as I can, even with various populists," said Silina.
The Prime Minister noted that she feels sorry for people who believe in fake news and promises that are then not fulfilled. According to her, the 'New Unity' party will not cooperate with political forces that advocate support for Russia or the restoration of business with it.
Silina emphasized that Russia and Belarus remain a threat to the region, and therefore a return to economic cooperation with these countries for the sake of profit is unacceptable.
"Security is something we cannot afford to sell. We cannot risk the safety of our people for easy money," the head of government emphasized. Speaking about Latvia's position in Europe, the Prime Minister stated that the country has several advantages, primarily in the field of digital services and economic flexibility.
"When I talk to colleagues in Europe, I am increasingly convinced that our people are much stronger. Europe is jealous of us," said Silina.
According to her, a company can be registered in the Register of Enterprises in Latvia in about five minutes, while the target time in the European Union is 48 hours. The Prime Minister believes that such advantages must be used for the further development of the country.
